Greetings from pixiv.
Recently, there has been a growing threat of unauthorized logins by third parties through stolen passwords or hijacked e-mail accounts.
In light of this, please review your account security settings once again so you can use pixiv more safely.
When reviewing your settings, please pay particular attention to the following points.
Whether you have set up a passkey
A passkey is an authentication method that replaces a password and uses built-in device authentication functions such as face or fingerprint recognition, PIN code, etc.
Because it eliminates the risk of password leaks and makes logging in simpler and more secure, we strongly encourage setting up a passkey.
To learn more, refer to this article.
We also recommend enabling two-factor authentication alongside your passkey. Even with two-factor authentication enabled, you can still log in using just your passkey, allowing for stronger security without added hassle.
Whether you have set up two-factor authentication
When you enable two-factor authentication, you will be required to confirm your login information via two separate methods, which protects your account from unauthorized access by third parties. Even if someone gains access to your e-mail account, having two-factor authentication enabled can prevent unauthorized access to your pixiv account.
To learn more, refer to this article.
If you enable two-factor authentication, a list of backup codes will be generated for you. Please note that if you lose access to your backup codes, you may be permanently logged out of your account, so make sure to keep your backup codes safe at all times.
If you misplaced your backup codes, you can regenerate them at any time while logged in. Just be sure to save the new codes right away.
Whether you have registered a valid e-mail address
If you're still using an old or inactive e-mail address on your pixiv account, please update it to your current one as soon as possible. If you’re unable to receive e-mails, you may not be able to recover your account in case of need.
Additionally, if your e-mail account (e.g., Gmail, Outlook.com) is compromised, it can lead to unauthorized access to your pixiv account as well. We strongly recommend setting up two-factor authentication for your e-mail account too. To learn more, please refer to the Help pages of your e-mail provider.
Consider switching from passwords to passkeys
We're seeing more unauthorized logins using passwords leaked from other services or stolen through malware and malicious browser extensions.
To avoid this risk, we recommend deleting your password and switching to a more secure login method like a passkey.
We will continue working to improve our services and strengthen security so that you can enjoy pixiv with peace of mind.
We appreciate your continued patronage of pixiv.
